Applications and Benefits

Applications of Pile Test

Benefits of Pile Test

Types of Pile Test

Pile Load Test (Static, compression)
Pile Load Test (Static, compression)

Pile Load Test (Static, compression) ASTM D1143

  • The test is carried out by using two piles as reaction supports to test one pile in the middle.
  • A hydraulic jack is positioned on top of the test pile, supported by a test beam assembly. This test beam is secured by two or more reaction piles.
  • Dial gauges, mounted on a reference beam, are installed on the test pile to measure deformation throughout the testing period.
  • Loading is applied incrementally in accordance with the specified design load values.
Pile Load Test (Static, tension)
Pile Load Test (Static, tension)

Pile Load Test (Static, tension) ASTM D3689

  • The test is carried out by pulling the pile by applying tension to the pile head.
  • The extension rods will be installed using steel rods pulled with hydraulic jacks.
  • The hydraulic jack will be supported by a test beam that transfers the force to the ground. The test beam will be supported by a bearing plate or nearby poles.
  • Pile deformation is measured with a dial gauge and reference beam.
Pile Load Test (Static, lateral)
Pile Load Test (Static, lateral)

Pile Load Test (Static, lateral) ASTM D3966

  • The lateral load test was carried out using horizontal force from a hydraulic jack supported by a Deadman.
  • The horizontal deformation of the pile is measured using a dial gauge and a reference beam.
Pile Integrity Test (PIT)
Pile Integrity Test (PIT)

Pile Integrity Test (PIT)

  • The test is carried out using a small hammer to produce waves into the pile.
  • Waves will be created by using a hammer from the top of the pile then propagating along the pile and reflecting the waves back onto the pile.
  • The signal receiver will be installed at the top of the stack. The traveling wave time will be measured to indicate the condition of the pile.
  • This test will inform the integrity of the pile material along the pile.
Dynamic Pile Load Test
Dynamic Pile Load Test

Dynamic Pile Load Test ASTM D4945

  • The test will be carried out using a heavy hammer dropped on the pile.
  • The force resulting from the fall of the hammer will produce an elastic wave strain that propagates along the pile.
  • The reflection of these elastic waves will be recorded on the pile using a strain and acceleration signal receiver.
  • Grouping of waves is recorded and illustrate the capacity of the pile.
